Why did you choose to attend Mississippi State?
This may sound like the cliché of all clichés. However, I honestly had no idea where I wanted to go to college during my senior year of high school. I just knew I wanted to go far enough where I could stand on my own amongst my nine siblings and close enough to where I could always go back to my roots: my family. I toured many Louisiana colleges and although they were in my home state, they just didn't quite feel like "my home." A home where I can build a new and unique me. A home where I can meet people where there isn't an eighty percent chance they could be my cousin. I wanted a life that I could completely attribute to my personified craftsmanship. I remember the first time I stepped foot on campus. The very walk to Montgomery Hall felt like I had walked that route countless times before. The camaraderie felt like I had just step foot into a big family reunion where everyone was just engulfed in the joy of being together. The academic presentation assured me that I would be supported, uplifted, and challenged to achieve greater heights. The beauty of the campus felt like I would be doing myself a disservice by not allowing myself to take advantage of the wonderful, resourceful environment around me. I distinctly remember the ride on the way back to Bogalusa. My mom and I were so happy and certain with my decision to attend that we didn't even exchange words. We just nodded at each other and knew that I would be more than okay. Mississippi State University was a blank canvas for me and each day I grow evermore grateful for the opportunity to paint my unforgettable college experience.
